Welcome to my website.

There is a lot more information on this site than the previous one. It should be easier for you to navigate around.

I am still in the process of setting up the new workshop and when it is done I will be advertising date and availabiity of the courses.

Use this link if you want to go straight to the ON LINE SHOP.

JUNE 2009 Important News - We have now moved premises, please see contact details for further information.

A bit about me.

My first taste of turning was at the age of 14. My father was given a cast iron child's treadle lathe which my brothers and I messed around on. I recently found out that the lathe was made in the US in the late 1800's and cost US$ 8.75  at the time - a lot of money then. I still have it and it's my pride and joy . I took turning up again as a hobby in my late twenties while I was working in the travel industry. The work was seasonal and this  was  an ideal time to take up a hobby.

In 1994 I took the plunge and became a full time turner. The majority of my time and income was derived from demonstrating commercially for a major tool manufacturer and also demonstrating my techniques at woodturning clubs. Over a six year period I built up my turning business and supplied a number of good quality galleries. I have also done my fair share of production turning, having made over 10,000 caddy spoons (for measuring loose tea and coffee) for Taylors Of Harrogate to sell in their tea rooms.

I love turning and get a huge amount of  satisfaction from turning my favourite hollow forms which I usually colour or decorate in some way. I enjoy teaching and feel privileged to be invited to do so, both nationally and internationally.

I am pleased to be importer and sole agent for Vicmarc Machinery Pty Ltd and Woodcut Tools Ltd in the UK and Ireland, supplying direct to consumers since June 2001. My business aim is to provide only the very best quality equipment available today. I only supply products that I believe will benefit turners . When demonstrating I am constantly asked "Where can I get that?" So now if I use it, I stock it. That way you know that everything on this site has been tried and tested and above all used on a regular basis. I have been using Woodcut Tools since 1990 and have seen all the variations of their hollowing tools. They are still my favourite deep hollowing tool. I regularly use the Bowlsaver and the only sharpening system I use is the Tru-grind. They have some exciting new products which you can see further on in the site.

I appreciate any feedback both on the website and the tools.

See you in the shavings.
